He sneakily gained power under the noses of royal elites like the Neptune Family who were too focused on the approval of the mainlanders on Fishman Island, and not those suffering in the Fishman District. He was driven to insanity from the negativity of his surrounding environment in a way that was almost unbelievable.but makes sense if you look at real-world racist terrorist groups (like the KKK for example.hell, the New Fishman Pirates literally dressed in KKK-esque attire in one point of the arc lol). Personally, while I do think Hody could've been given more character traits or relationships to work with (since being consumed by hatred doesn't necessarily mean you need to be uncharismatic), I think his general concept worked well enough for the arc. Some people didn't like his empty and cartoonishly evil persona. Ignoring the general all-encompassing factor of any weekly-read arc (the general sense of pacing), here are the factors that people commonly critique the arc for (I'll put crosses around the two factors in particular that I agree with critics to be flaws, and for TLDR purposes, each factor in general is in bold):ġ) The effectiveness of Hody as a main antagonist. Of course, whether or not one would personally consider each individual factor to be a flaw is up to the reader, as well as the degree to which each individual factor detracts from the story, if at all. TLDR: As someone who really enjoys (if not outright loves) the arc, it boils down to six factors as to why others dislike it.
